HUNDRED of people are injured and there is widespread damage as a huge blast rocks the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
The BBC reported that this was confirmed by the Red Cross on Tuesday, with some reports claiming that the explosion was caused by a major fire at a warehouse for firecrackers.
Videos posted online showed a large mushroom cloud and destroyed buildings.
The internal security chief said it happened in an area with highly explosive materials.
All hospitals in the area were ordered to prepare for the injured but the facilities were said to be overwhelmed by casualties.
