Hetmyer is 11th West Indian to Score 5,000 T20 Runs

Guyana’s middle-order batsman Shimron Hetmyer has joined an elite list of West Indies cricketers to score 5,000 runs in T20s on Thursday.

The 28-year-old left-handed batsman passed the milestone on Wednesday during a knock of 52 for the Rajasthan Royals during a 58-run loss to the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The effort carried his total to 5,045 runs from 261 matches. He averages 26.41 with one century and 25 half centuries.

Hetmyer joins Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Andre Fletcher, Dwayne Smith, Lendl Simmons, Johnson Charles, Dwayne Bravo and Evin Lewis as the other West Indies cricketers to achieve the feat.
