Headless Body Found in Beetham River

A HEADLESS body of a man was found on Wednesday evening floating in the Beetham River. 

It was discovered by the Hunters Search and Rescue Team at around 4.10 pm.

Head of the team Vallence Rambharat told AZP News that the team had been combing the area since  8 pm on Tuesday in search of two missing persons, one from Diego Martin and the other from Santa Cruz. 

Based on information received by family members of one of the missing persons, the individual worked near the area.

The Hunters Search and Rescue Team was accompanied by the Port of Spain Task Force. 

Rambharat said, “The body was in an advanced state of decomposition. We figured out it was a male based on the trousers he was wearing. He was wearing a green trousers. Based on that and based on what the missing persons were last seen wearing, we think he may not be either of the two persons we were searching for.”

He said the team using their skills, equipment and a stem cut from the mangrove was able to pull the body out of the water without even touching the water. 

The river runs parallel to the wastewater treatment plant at Clearwater Road, Beetham.
