POLITICAL leader of the National Transformation Alliance (NTA) Gary Griffith is promising that his party will continue to campaign for the rescuing of the population from the hands of the People’s National Movement (PNM).

The party that was launched last year May and contested with 31 candidates in an accommodation with the United National Congress (UNC) did not win any of the districts in Monday’s Local Government Elections.

On Tuesday morning, Griffith said, “On behalf of my wife and children, my fellow NTA governance team members, and my newfound NTA family of transformers, I make this promise to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago, that the NTA will continue to have the passion and dedication to unite us, and make our country safe, secure, and prosperous for all our citizens.”

He thanked all who voted  for the NTA.

“It was indeed a monumental showing, as after going into the belly of the beast to contest, we were able to significantly reduce the traditional margins of victory in PNM heartland territories,” he said in a media statement.

Griffith said, “Greatly encouraged by our performance, I make the promise to our supporters who voted, and who didn’t vote, as well as those others who didn’t vote for us, that this is just the beginning, and not the end of our campaign to rescue our country from the poor governance which presently exists.”

The NTA will forever be grateful to its first group of candidates who contested, and their many support staff who gave of their time and energy to put into the young party he said.

“It was indeed a pleasure working with you and walking the country with you. I am richer for the experience and now consider you all part of my family, forever bonded by our common belief in a better tomorrow.”

Griffith also congratulated  all 141 candidates who won their districts on Monday night, especially the UNC candidates who not only increased their margins of victories in many electoral districts, but also increased the overall number of electoral districts that are now  in their hands.
