CARIBBEAN Airlines, cannot continue mismanaging its affairs and resources to the detriment of its faithful customers.

This, according to head of the Tobago Business Chamber Martin George.

In a video statement on Monday, he said that it could not be that CAL was expanded its services, spending billions on sponsorship deals but still dealing with issues such as pilots’ salaries.

He said the pilots may have their legitimate grouches and their reasons for wanting to take some type of action.

However,  it was either CAL had the necessary resources to manage its flights or it did not.

“We are saying, you must take care of home first,” he said.

George said passengers who travel in and out of Tobago continued to suffer as there was no improvement or reliability in service provided by the state-owned airline.

He said, “We have seen as a result of yesterday’s debacle, persons saying that they don’t want to come back to Tobago at all.”

George said, “It is clearly mismanagement and poor practices at Caribbean Airlines and it is something that the government has to take responsibility for because Caribbean Airlines is owned by the government of Trinidad and Tobago.

“We ought to see better management occurring with this airline and better deployment of resources so that we can have some level of efficiency, effectiveness and reliability in the transfer and transport of people.”

George also called for a statement from Caribbean Airlines chief executive officer Garvin Medera on the matter

Caribbean Airlines on Sunday filed an injunction against the Trinidad and Tobago Airline Pilots Association (TTALPA) its members and associates for the sick-out action taken on Sunday.

On Monday, the TTALPA members and associates employed with the airline were ordered by the Industrial Court to return to duty immediately.
