THE village must take part in transforming education in Trinidad and Tobago.
This according to Minister of Health Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly at an Adopt-A-School ceremony at her ministry in Port-of-Spain on Thursday.
She said, “Education takes a village, as is our theme in our consultation. We need the village to take part in transforming education and a big part of that is an input from the private sector and how this can impact the education sector.
“One of our discussions centers around how we can have our corporate bodies more involved, how we can build that framework, so it is easy to give.
“Many people want to give but they just need an easy pathway to do so and at the ministry, we are discussing how we can expand Adopt-A-School, not just for devices other initiatives, as we take care of our children, by sowing and investing into their lives.”
Flow Trinidad made a donation 80 devices to the Adopt-A-School Programme, via its Cable and Wireless Charitable Foundation. This was the second donation by Flow.
The company’s Vice President Simone Martin-Sulgan ssaid, “Today, we are handing over 150 devices to schools across Trinidad in support of this initiative that connects our young people.”
The schools that have benefitted are located in areas where Flow has provided broadband services over the past 18 months.
The 10 schools are:
- Princes Town Roman Catholic Primary School;
- Princes Town Presbyterian No.2 School;
- Cunupia Government Primary School;
- Harmony Hall Presbyterian Primary School;
- Cap De Ville Government Primary School;
- Avocat Vedic APS School;
- La Brea RC Primary School;
- Brighton Anglican Primary School;
- Santa Flora Government Primary School; and
- Palo Seco Government Primary School.
