Free Entry for WCPL Finals on Thursday

THE Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) are rolling out the red carpet for fans as they prepare to host the Massy Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) final against the Barbados Royals onThursday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

In an announcement on Wednesday, TKR declared that entry to the match will be free, allowing families and cricket enthusiasts to enjoy the showdown without any cost.

The final, is set to bowl off at 3 pm The Barbados Royals, captained by global cricket star Hayley Matthews, will face off against the 2022 champions, TKR, led by the dynamic Deandra “World Boss” Dottin.

TKR secured their spot in the final with a four-wicket victory over the Royals on Tuesday, marking the reigning champions’ first loss of the tournament. The Royals finished the group stage with six points from three wins and one loss, while TKR ended with four points from two wins and two defeats.

Dottin is rallying support from fans, she said, “We’re ready to give it our all in the final,” she stated. “The energy of TKR fans is unmatched, so we invite everyone to come out and cheer us on. We need your support to bring home the trophy.”

In a media release, the CPL highlighted the initiative to offer free tickets, aiming to encourage families to witness the thrilling competition. Fans interested in attending the match can secure their free tickets by visiting www.cplt20.com or the box office at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. Those who have already purchased tickets will be eligible for a refund.

CPL CEO Pete Russell expressed gratitude to TKR for their generous offer, stating, “It is so important that the next generation of cricket fans get to watch their heroes in action. We are expecting the final to be just as exciting as the tournament has been this year.”
