FIRE broke out on Thursday night at the Lloyd Braithwaite Student Administration Building at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine campus.
In a Whatsapp message, Guild President Kobe Sandy said, “The fire started in the store room and was transferred to the admin building. Senior Campus Officials are on site and I am informed that everything is under control and there was no loss or harm of life or limb…”
And an advisory posted on Facebook by The UWI stated that smoke was detected emanating from the Administration Building just after 7 pm.
The staff and students were immediately evacuated and the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services along with the Campus Incident Management Team and Executive Management arrived on the scene, the post stated.
It stated that the fire is now under control.
