Fire at Tower C

During ongoing maintenance work at the International Waterfront Centre, Tower C, a fire broke out, at around 2pm Friday, in the heating element of the roofing membrane that is currently being replaced. 

This is according to a media release from Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (UDeCOTT). 

Within minutes the fire was immediately extinguished, safety protocols were quickly followed, the release stated.

No one was harmed.

UDeCOTT stated, “In line with our Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) protocols, the building was evacuated as a precautionary measure due to smoke entering the fresh air intake system.”

The situation has been stabilised, and the building wasclosely being monitored, it stated. 

UDeCOTT stated, “Our priority remains the safety and well-being of all personnel and visitors. We will continue to provide updates as needed and are working diligently to make sure the situation is fully resolved.”
