Farmer Charged for AR-15 Rifle

A 42-YEAR-OLD farmer is charged for being in possession of an AR-15 rifle and ammunition.

Police reported on Wednesday that Sunil Balliram, of Thompson Road, Palmiste was arrested by officers of the Longdenville Police Post on Monday.

The exercise was conducted by Insp Jaggernath, Sgt Harriot and PC Krishna. Based on information received, the officers intercepted a black Mitsubishi Lancer along Thompson Road, Carlsen Field, and conducted a search of the vehicle.

In the front passenger side of the vehicle, one AR-15 riffle fitted with a magazine and eight rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition were allegedly found.

Balliram was  expected to appear virtually at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to answer to the charges.
