EURO 2024: Germany Thumps Scotland in Opener

IT started with Germany defeating Scotland in a one-sided affair.

The first game of Euro 2024 was an array of German dominance against a hapless Scotland. The opening ceremony was a wonderful arrangement that was excellently performed. It was colorful and the coordination was spot on in every aspect.

The hosts came out hard and dominated the game. Germany took the lead with a wonderful strike from F. Writz (10 min) low to the bottom corner. It did not take long to double the lead as K. Havertz made a golden pass to J.Musiala (19 min) as he fired into the roof. 

In the 45 + 1 Ryan Porteous challenge on Ilkay Gundogan was reckless and he was sent off. Harvertz steps up and strikes a wonderful penalty. Porteous was rightfully sent off and with ten men and three goals behind it was a mountain to climb in the second half.

Germany continued the dominance and adding two goals again along with an own goal to soften the Scottish goal difference.The dominance was so complete that Germany had 20 shots at goal to Scotland’s one along with 73% of the possession and an amazing 94% pass accuracy. It will take all the whiskey in Scotland to overcome this defeat.

History was also created as this was Germany’s biggest ever win at the Euros, as well as, Scotland’s biggest loss along with the biggest opening match win in the tournament that started in 1960.
