Euros match day 10: June 23, 2024

WASTEFUL Germany were almost beaten and needed to come form behind to secure a draw. Germany had 18 shots at goal and 67% possession but could only deliver for their frustrated fans.

Niculas Fullkrug saved the German team for embarrassment by his goal in the 90 + 2 minute. Switzerland were able to neutralise Tonii  Kroos for the entire game which meant Germany lacked creative play on attacks. The lack of an out and out striker is something that will come back to hurt the Germans against better teams.

The Swiss were on the verge of going through as group leader when Dan Ndoye scored in the 28th minute and that lead lasted until normal time. It was heartbreak for the Swiss after defending so well and neutralising the Germans.

Hungary 1 vs 0 Scotland

Kevin Csoboth in the 90+10 minute broke the Scottish hearts with a goal that was a heartless end to a great fight by Scotland.  This is the latest goal ever scored in the Euros at 99 minutes and 32 seconds.

It also brought the end to a run of eight matches by Hungary without a win at the Euros going back to 2016 when they beat 2-0 over Austria.
