ARIMA – ESCAPED prisoner Dillon Clarke has been recaptured by police.
He was caught during J’Ouvert celebrations in Arima on Saturday and will now appear before an Arima Magistrate on Monday on a charge of escaping unlawful custody.
Clarke, 34 of Mt Zion Road, Maturita Village, Arima was held by officers along Hollis Avenue during the street party, police said.
The TTPS tweeted, “While on patrol duties at the Arima Borough Day celebrations, officers noticed a man fitting the description of the escapee in the vicinity of the Arima market.”
He had escaped from the Golden Grove Prison, Arouca on Thursday, while out on an agricultural project with other inmates.
Prison officials said that selected inmates participate in the agricultural projects, but the must have served more than half of their sentence.
Sources said Clarke was sentenced in December 2018 to 24-months after being convicted for malicious damage.
He was expected to be released from prison in April 2020.
