MINISTER of Energy and Energy Industries Dr Roodal Moonilal visited Yara Trinidad and Trinidad Nitrogen Company Limited (TRINGEN), to facilitate the government’s plans to collaborate with major energy stakeholders.
Also visiting the complex were Minister in the Ministry of Energy Ernesto Kesar and Director Downstream Petroleum Management Division Ayasha Nickie, of said Ministry.
The officials toured the Yara TRINGEN Complex in Savonetta, Point Lisas on Wednesday.
They met with executives to discuss matters on energy security, national economy, public and private collaborations and agricultural initiatives.
Among these TRINGEN executives were Chairman Emerson Cheddie, President Karlon Batchasingh, Directors Trygve Faksvaag, Gregory Prevatt, Roger Packer and Bruce Hope, Corporate Secretary Jonathan Walker and Senior Manager Finance Kahlil Mohammed.
President of Yara Trinidad Ltd/VP Operations Treveno Mowassie also attended.
Mowassie provided an overview of TRINGEN’S 50 years of operations and contributions to the region’s economy.
The TRINGEN I and II plants reported strong operational performance and high safety standards year-round.

In a release on Friday, the government stated, “Minister Kesar took the opportunity to congratulate the staff on a successful turn-around while Minister Moonilal commended staff on their longstanding service to the company as some employees expressed that they have been with the company for more than thirty years.”
At the end of the tour, Ministers looked on as the ‘Yara Freya’ vessel in Deep Water Port Terminal was loaded with ammonia heading to international markets.
