Encore: Montano Wins 12th Road March

MACHEL Montano continues to prove himself the King of Soca capturing his 12th Road March Title with his hit Encore, breaking the previous record of the most Road March titles held by Lord Kitchener who had 11 wins.

Encore was not Montano’s only song nabbing a top spot on the road, his song with Paris Coutain Move Out De Way ranked sixth with four plays.

Shortly after midday on Wednesday at a press conference the President of the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO) Ainsley King announced the final results of the National TUCO Road March Competition 2026.

Montano’s song Encore took top honours with 171 plays. Coming in second was the Voice’s Cyah Behave with 127 plays, followed by Bunji Garlin’s Road Man with 97 plays.

Fourth place went to Mical Teja and Patrice Roberts with Capital and Full Blown came in fifth with seven plays.

In a press release, TUCO stated the tabulation was conducted on Monday and Tuesday at various adjudication venues throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

Over his career, Montano had earned a total of 21 titles across various Soca and calypso competitions, making him the most decorated artist in T&T’s history.
