AN elderly mother is kicked, cuffed, stomped on her head and dragged about with her head covered in a pillowcase.
Four other family members’ heads were covered with pillowcases as bandits made off with the family’s vehicle, a charcoal-coloured Tuscon licensed plate PCK 9258. The incident took place at Emerald Drive in Diego Martin.
This was just part of a robbery account given to AZP News on Thursday by family member Jennifer Carr who also spoke about it on social media.
The home invasion occurred around 1 am on Thursday.
Her 77-year-old father, brother, sister-in-law and nephew were all held hostage by the bandits.
The incident occurred when her mother who is 80 years old, was returning home from her sister’s birthday party.
Her brother, who lives next door, said he was called to open the gate around 1 am.
He said, “She drove in and when she came out she said… the window by the kitchen door, it looked like someone was trying to open it and I said what do you mean? We spoke for about maybe three to five seconds and then the bandits came around from the corner. One with a gun pointed at me, put me on the ground, they dragged my mom inside the kitchen, mom was screaming so they kicked her and cuffed her.”
According to him, there were three bandits all armed with guns with their faces covered.
Carr told AZP News out of everyone, her mother was the most traumatised and was finally getting some rest by a relative on Thursday afternoon.
She said when the bandits escaped in the vehicle, her brother called her and she immediately went across to the house.
While there, they awaited the police to arrive and they came approximately 45 minutes after the incident from the West End Police Station.
A friend from a security firm who also lives at Diamond Vale was also called upon and he too arrived before the police did.
Carr said the house was in disarray due to ransacking by the bandits who got away with her parents’ cellphones, an iPad, three rings and they yanked gold chains off the neck of her mother and brother.
She said, “In 2021, I was driving that same car when I was held up at gunpoint in St Augustine by two young men. I begged and pleaded for my life and that’s how they managed to let me go. I know the trauma what they (my family) went through. I am just grateful that they are all alive.”
Carr also said when the vehicle was stolen the last time, posts on social media helped to relocate it.
