A Mayaro couple is among three people charged for marijuana possession and trafficking.
Samuel Matthews and his wife Celestine Matthews, both 33, of Fish Port, Guayaguayare, Mayaro, who were jointly charged with possession of 410 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of 502 grammes of cannabis and Horres Cruickshank, 38, Tyndale Extension, Mayaro, who was charged with possession of 184 grammes of cannabis.
Three suspects who were held on Friday for various narcotic offences are scheduled to appear virtually on Monday in the Mayaro Magistrates’ Court.
The Matthews were jointly charged on Friday by Cpl Jaikaran of the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department (CID), while Cruickshank was also charged  by Cpl Joseph, also of the Mayaro CID.
The accused were arrested following several raids which are a part of the ongoing drug suppression efforts in the Eastern Division.
The operation was executed by CID officers led by acting Sgt Mohammed and personnel attached to the Mounted and Canine Branch.
According to police reports, between 4 am and 8 am on Friday, officers executed several search warrants at four priority offenders during which they allegedly found various narcotics with the assistance of Canine officers Cpl Bernard and PC Kalpoo with Canines Sherriff and Anya, respectively.
