‘Drifter’ Fined for Dangerous Driving

SAN FERNANDO – A driver who posted videos of himself “drifting” on the Solomon Hochoy Highway on July 21 has been charged with dangerous driving.

Reagan Birbal, of San Fernando, was charged after the videos went viral on social media.

Police conducted an investigation led by acting Assistant Commission of Police (Mobile) Joanne Archie and including Senior Superintendent Sharon Gomez-Cooper, acting Senior Superintendent Wayne Mohammed of the Southern Division Traffic Section.

Birbal turned himself into the San Fernando Police Station today and was charged  under Section 71A of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act.

He subsequently paid a $3000 fine in the San Fernando Traffic Court.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said it was pleased that the Trinidad and Tobago Automobile Sports Association quickly condemned the action by Birbal and urged all sporting drivers to resist racing or speeding on the public roadways.
