Congratulations, Prior Beharry, on your well-deserved election as the new President of the Media Association of Trinidad and Tobago (MATT)!
I’ve had the privilege of knowing you for many years, from the days when I served as CEO of Radio Jaagriti and later as Marketing Officer for the National Lotteries Control Board. Through all those experiences, one thing has always stood out: your unwavering commitment to journalistic professionalism and objectivity.
You have consistently demonstrated integrity, fairness, and a deep respect for the truth in everything you do—qualities that have earned you respect across the media landscape in Trinidad and Tobago. As the Editor-in-Chief of AZP News and a seasoned journalist who has covered critical stories with balance and courage, you’re stepping into this leadership role at a pivotal time for press freedom and media standards in our country.
I have no doubt that under your guidance, MATT will continue to advocate strongly for journalists, uphold the highest ethical standards, and champion the vital role of a free and independent press in our democracy.
Well done, Prior—this is a fantastic achievement, and the entire media community is better for having you at the helm.
