RESIDENTS living between Erin to Los Bajos in southwest Trinidad have been without data and internet services for the past three weeks.

Councillor for Erin Arlene Ramdeo on Wednesday said she had been in constant communication with the Bmobile, the service provider.

Ramdeo said Bmobile assured her they would rectify the problem in the shortest space of time.

She said people in the area continued to lose cell service.

Some residents within the areas told AZP News that with the theft of the cables, to now constant service failure with their Bmobile phones for more than two weeks was disheartening.

“You can’t call anyone if there is an emergency. Secondly, with all this rain you are now indoors and if you have a data plan; you can’t use it due to the service issues and this makes you feel stuck in the Ice Age,” one Carapal resident.

While another resident Markita, a preschool teacher, said this service caused her disruptions.

She said for three weeks now, there was no Bmobile service on their phones but they had access to emergency calls.

“I had been calling Bmobile every single day because I have an online class beginning on Monday for preschoolers. I placed a plan on my phone but if it worked for two days good, it worked,” Markita said.

She added up to now, Bmobile has not sent anyone and no one has contacted them

Markita said she planned from next week to go into another area just to teach her class, as most of her students got internet from Flow and they would have access to the classes.

Another resident identified as Bill said he solely relied on the internet to buy and sell cryptocurrency.

“Now because of Bmobile’s lack of inefficiency and unreliable service, I lost out big and I still have to pay the bill when it’s due,” he said.
