A man has been granted $75,000 bail after appearing in court on charges of assaulting three Licensing Officers during a confrontation earlier this week.

Rondell Bowen appeared before Master Rehanna Hosein at the Tunapuna High Court on Friday, March 13, 2026, to answer charges of Common Assault and Assault on a Peace Officer. Bowen pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail with a surety.

The incident was recorded by a TV6 reporter and it went viral on social media.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred at approximately 10 am on Monday, March 9, along the Southern Main Road in Curepe. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Motor Vehicle Officers (MVO I) Kairron Hayter, Keston Price, and Andy Saroop were allegedly assaulted by the accused while performing their official duties.

Following the altercation, the TTPS launched an immediate investigation spearheaded by senior officials, including ACP Singh, Senior Superintendent Gift, and Superintendent Jaikaran.

Acting Corporal Williams, who handled the direct investigation, visited the scene, recorded statements from both the victims and witnesses, and gathered relevant evidence. Police also collected medical reports on behalf of the three officers as well as the accused.

Upon the completion of the investigation, a case file was submitted to the relevant authorities, resulting in the instructions to officially charge Bowen with the offenses.
