TWO children ages ten and seven were among a group of victims who were shot at on Friday night resulting in the death of one man.
And a “PH” driver was also shot and killed in a separate incident on Friday.
Police reports are that around 8.05pm on Friday, Oshale Debiseette, 24, of Molly Ahee Crescent, La Horquetta were standing in front of the home of the children at Govia Crescent, Phase 7, La Horquetta when a white Tiida drove by and loud explosions were heard.
The three victims were taken to the Arima Hospital where Debiseette succumb to his injuries at 8.30pm.
The seven-year-old received an injury to the left inner thigh and the ten-year-old child received an injury to the left foot. Visiting the scene were Ag Insp Mascall, Sgt Lewis, acting Sgt Caldon and members of the La Horquetta Chargeroom and Area East Operations Unit.
Killed while gambling
In the other incident, ‘PH’ Trevlin Dedier, 33 from Upper Fairley, Bamboo Trace, Tunapuna was found dead just after 8.15pm on Friday.
Police stated that PC Paul and WPC Julien both attached to the Tunapuna Police station responded to a report of loud explosions at Achong and Fairley Street, Tunapuna.
On arrival, they observed a blue Nissan Wingroad parked on the eastern side of the roadway with the engine idling and extensive damage to the front with no one inside. They then proceeded further along the roadway and observed a crowd of persons gathered. Several persons were interviewed and enquiries revealed that around 8.15pm, Dedier was gambling with other persons when he walked off to collect some food.
A blue Nissan Wingroad drove pass, turned and drove back where Dedier and other persons were gathered. The vehicle, stopped and three men alighted all armed with firearms pointed them in the direction of the persons gathered and fired several shots.
The persons ran in different directions and the assailants re-entered the vehicle and sped off south along Bamboo Trace, Tunapuna.
A check was made shortly for the persons seen gambling and they observed Dedier lying on his right side bearing gunshot wounds about the body.
Five men from Tunapuna, a firearm and a vehicle have seen been seized by the police, reports stated.
Shot near sea
Additionally, around 9am on Friday, Keron Jack, 30 was on King Street, Carenage, when he was shot at by a gunman. He ran toward the sea, in an easterly direction and hid in some bushes on Schuller Street close to the sea.
He was then taken to the St James Hospital and later transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was operated on for a gunshot wound to the chest and is currently in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Sgt Joseph, acting Sgt Adams and acting Cpl Viechweg visited the scene, interviewed persons, recovered a Toyota Corolla and obtained a medical report and statement.
Ag Cpl viechweg is continuing enquiries.
Shot on way to catch conch
And on Thursday, a 58-year-old retiree from Princes Town was shot on his way to catch conch in Moruga at around 2pm.
Police reported that Allif Ali, from Bronte Sugar Road, Cipero Road, was walking in a forested area in Cachipe Village, Moruga, when he heard a loud explosion and felt a burning sensation to his right hand and chest area. He was taken to the Gulf View Medical Centre for treatment.
