Mayaro Couple in Court for Counterfeit $100 Bills

A Mayaro couple appeared virtually on Tuesday before the Mayaro Magistrates’ Court jointly charged with possession of forged currencies.

Daylon Rambharose, 28, a labourer and Reanna Frontin, 20, a housewife, both of Stone Bright Village, Mayaro, were not called upon to plea when they appeared before the court jointly charged with possession of 19 forged $100 bills by Cpl Joseph of the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Rambharos was denied bail and remanded into custody for tracing while Frontin was granted $7,000 bail.

The matter as will be heard at the High Court on November 24, 2023. The two were arrested on November 9 and later charged on November 11 following a raid conducted by officers of the Mayaro CID.

According to police reports, between 3 am and 7 am on November 9th, Mayaro CID and personnel attached to the Mounted and Canine Branch, led by acting Sgt Mohammed, executed a search warrant at a house located in Stone Bright Village, Mayaro.

During the search, police allegedly found 19 $100 bills of Trinidad and Tobago currency bearing similar serial numbers and of unusual texture and appearance.

Two suspects were immediately held in connection with the finds and later charged following enquiries supported by officers of the Financial Investigations Branch.
