A truck driver is dead after the container he was carrying slammed into the cabin on Saturday night.
Police said Marcus Lezama, 36, of Foster Extension Road, Sangre Grande, was pinned in his cabin after he ran off the Southern Main Road in Chaguanas in the vicinity of Modern Electrical Limited. The incident happned around 10pm.
Police said the vehicle was ditched between the north bound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway and the Southern Main Road.
The container fell onto the cabin of the truck in the ditch, pinning Lezama inside, investigators said.
The fire service was contacted and took Lezama to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
