MINISTER of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan is promising a smoother and more comfortable journey to Toco as he commissioned Phase One of the Valencia to Toco Highway on Friday.
He said, “The idea is to take what you are seeing here, all the way to Toco, so when you leave home and you reach on this road, this is the comfort you are supposed to get all the way to Toco.”
Sinanan said this will enhance government’s plan for a port in Toco.
He said, “Once that is completed by then, the port in Toco should be fully advanced because we are at the stage through NIDCO where we are putting together all the statutory requirements.”
Sinanan said, “The designs have been completed but obviously until we get statutory approvals nothing can start.”
He added, “But, it’s package we are working on.”
The sod-turning project for the Valencia to Toco Highway took place in 2018 was budgeted at $196 million, but Sinanan said it should come in lower than that figure.
The Valencia to Toco upgrade spans 12.4 KM and starts from the pillars at Alexander Street to the junction of Valencia Main Road to Toco.
What about the Highway promised to the people from San Fernando to Mayaro during 2010-2015 term if the Galeota Port was developed the design concept was approved
In the Ministry of works office is a drawing of a Highway from Curepe to Princess Town
which would alleviate traffic and other congestion on the Uriah/Butler and Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway.
Then new developments will also take place along these routes.
