FRUSTRATED residents of Cedros stage a fiery protest near a Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) water treatment plant in Granville on Sunday.
They have had no water in their taps for two weeks.
Cedors Councillor Shankar Teelucksingh called on Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley to fire Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales describing the situation as political discrimination.
He said, “They are suffering, Icacos is suffering, Fullerton is suffering and other areas are suffering and WASA administration is not providing that service in terms of that proper distribution ,well rehabilitation, plant upgrade and other repairs to the infrastructure for proper water supply.
Resident June Ramnarine said, “We have a water plant, we not even getting water, our own water. It does go somewhere else. We taking water from Chatham. Why is this? And Chatham water is stink, it smells bad.”
She called on Gonzales to hold his managers accountable.
Residents burned tyres and walked with placards to show their disgust at their situation.
