‘Caveman’ Killed in Santa Cruz

A 28-year-old Santa Cruz man was shot and left for dead near his home early Sunday morning.

Police said that around 12.45 am, they received a report that a body of man was lying in a road in Santa Cruz.

When police arrived they were told that after hearing loud explosion, residents said that three men all wearing hoodies pulled up in a car and took the body that was lying at Corner Barnes Avenue and Robert Street.

Police were told that the men were in a Nissan Almera.

Investigators said that Emmanuel Phillips, 28, of Monroe Road, La Canoa Lower Santa Cruz, was dropped off at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The scene was processed by the CSI’s and investigators found four nine millimeter shells and blood stains on the roadway.
