The Princess of Wales, Catherine, has revealed she is undergoing treatment after cancer was detected in recent tests.

In a video statement on Friday, Catherine expressed shock at the diagnosis, following what she described as an exceptionally tough couple of months.

She said, “As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”

Kensington Palace said the video was filmed on Wednesday by BBC Studios.

Catherine disclosed that the cancer was discovered after abdominal surgery in January.

She said, “… tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,”

In her message, Catherine extended empathy to all those affected by cancer, urging them not to lose faith or hope, emphasising solidarity in facing the disease.

The princess also highlighted the importance of family support, revealing that she and Prince William had prioritised managing the situation privately for the sake of their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis.

Catherine stressed the need for time, space, and privacy as they navigate this challenging period.

As a result of Catherine’s treatment, the royal couple will not be joining the rest of the Royal Family for Easter Sunday celebrations, and Catherine will not be resuming official duties in the near future.
