Body Found Floating Off Sea Lots

A body has been found floating near the coast on Wednesday and is yet to be identified.

Police reports on Thursday stated that around 3.15pm, officers  acting Sgt Rampersad and PC Rosado went to the NP jetty located near the Gulf of Paria, Sea Lots, where they met with  Daryl Prescod, a captain with Trinidad and Tobago Pilots Association (TTPA) who reported to them that around 2.15pm while on board,  the body of a male lying face down in the water about 50 metres off the southern side of the NP jetty was seen.

A team of officers headed by Seaman Leigertwood of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard responded in a Coast Guard vessel where the body was retrieved and taken to the Sea Lots Fishing Jetty where it was further observed.

The deceased was an African male 5’ 8” low hair cut, semi bald, unkempt grey beard wearing a green three-quaters pants, red and gold long sleeve shirt and black sneakers. There were no apparent marks of violence to the body.

The body  was first  taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital when the pronouncement was made and  then moved to the Forensic Science Complex. Acting Sgt Rampersad is continuing enquiries.
