FIVE men were shot dead on Friday in Central Trinidad in two separate incidents and skeletal remains were found in Gran Couva.
In Kelly Village, Caroni, the deceased are Reuben Ramsahoy, 21, labourer, of River Branch Road, Mason Maynard aka ‘Birdman,’ 30, farmer, of Margaret Cipriani Road, and Ricardo Samuel, also of River Branch Road.
Police reported that around 6.30pm, a blue motor vehicle registration number unknown drove into Margaret Cipriani Street and on reaching the vicinity of LP4, turned around and several loud explosions were heard emanating from the vehicle hitting the three deceased who were repairing a white Nissan Almera. The occupants of the blue car escaped in a southerly direction.
Ramsahoy and Maynard’s bodies were found on the western side of the roadway.
The district medical officer ordered the removal of the bodies for a post mortem examination at the Forensic Science Centre.
Samuel was sent for treatment at the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex but succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and his body was sent to the hospital morgue for safe keeping pending Covid testing and post mortem at the Forensic Science Centre.
Two shot dead in Enterprise
In Chaguanas, salesmen Surendra Ragoobar, 36, and Jamal Absalom, 21, both of Enterprise Street, Enterprise Chaguanas were also fatally shot.
Police reported that around 8pm, the two were together with an unknown person in front of their home at Enterprise Street, Enterprise, Chaguanas, painting a newly constructed shed to be used as a parlour, when two men dressed in orange-coloured coveralls armed with firearms approached them and began shooting.
The assailants then ran along the roadway and jumped into a parked car and escaped. Ragoobar ran approximately 50 meters from the shed and fell to the ground. Absalom ran into the yard of his home and fell.
With the assistance of family members, both men were taken to the Chaguanas District Health Facility where they succumbed to their injuries. They were pronounced dead at 8.30pm.
Human skeletal remains found in Gran Couva
And the body of missing person Himraj Bedassie alias ‘Phatta’ believed to be 36 years from St John’s Village, San Fernando was found in Gran Couva.
Bedassie was reported missing at the Ste Madeleine Police Station on August 23. He was last seen walking in his village.
Based on information received, a party of officers from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3, led by Ag Supt Dhillpaul went to an area off Boiserre Trace, Mayo Road, Gran Couva.
A search was conducted in a bushy area and human skeletal remains believed to be that of Bedassie were found along with a G-shock watch which was used to identify him.
The remains were also taken to the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
A suspect was held and is presently assisting the police.
