LOCALLY produced film Bazodee, starring entertainer Machel Montano, has copped two international awards at the Nigerian-based Realtime Film Festival Awards.
The film was nominated for six awards: Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Lighting Design
Speaking at the ceremony, one of the film’s producer Lorraine O’ Connor expressed joy over the 2015 film’s success.
She said, “What we created in Bazodee actually exists. That is our Carnival. What you saw there happens every year in the streets of Port-of-Spain.”
O’ Connor also extended an invitation to guests to visit Trinidad and Tobago.
Bazodee which has an 86% rating on movie review site Rotten Tomatoes tells the story of an indebted East Indian businessman (Kabir Bedi) who arranges a marriage for his young daughter (Natalie Perera), but she falls for a local singer (Machel Montano) in Trinidad and Tobago.
