THE Patience Hill Government Primary School (PHGPS) and its community have been affected by acts of violence including a tragic murder-suicide involving two parents, incidents of vandalism and bullying among students.
In response, the PHGPS in collaboration with the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), has organised a “No Violence” Walk-a-Thon to raise awareness and take a stand against these troubling issues.
The Walk-a-Thon is set to traverse the communities of Patience Hill and Signal Hill and will commence at the school’s compound, extend onto the main road and journey towards Signal Hill junction, passing through Tank Road before returning to the school’s compound.
Throughout the route, at four strategic locations, participants including teachers, students, parents, guardians, family, and friends will share messages against violence through various forms of expression such as dance, drama, and song.
The release stated, “Teachers, students, parents, guardians, family and friends will partner to send a strong message against Violence, with the hope that persons in the community, Tobago and the Nation will be edified and encouraged to do the same.”
