ONE man has been sentenced to jail for robbing an electronic store while another has pleaded not guilty.
The men from Maloney appeared at the Arima First Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, both charged with robbery with aggravation.
Jasane Anthony Charles, 20, pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to two years’ hard labour by Senior Magistrate Brambhanan Dubay.
Dale Lezama, 27, also pleaded guilty to the charge, however, the magistrate entered a not guilty plea based on his utterances.
He was remanded into custody and is due to reappear in court on April 14.
Police reported that extensive investigations were conducted following a report of an incident of robbery with aggravation at an electronics store located at Farfan Street, Arima, on March 11.
The two men were arrested and subsequently charged on March 16.
Investigations were conducted by a team of officers attached to the Arima Criminal Investigations Department (CID), supervised by Insp Ward, Sgt Bissessar and led by PC Seetaram.
