Second Teenager Arrested in Connection With Valsayn Home Invasion

A second teenager has been arrested in connection with the home invasion in Valsayn.

On Wednesday, police reported that the arrest was made on Tuesday during an intelligence-led operation conducted between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The suspect is a 17-year-old from Farm Road, St Joseph.

The exercise was coordinated by ACP of the Criminal Division, Richard Smith, with operational leadership provided by acting ASP St Clair and direct supervision by Ag Sgt Reviero.

Based on developed intelligence, officers concluded that a suspect wanted in connection with the home invasion was believed to be within the Bangladesh area of St. Joseph. Officers proceeded to the location and, following further enquiries, successfully located and arrested the suspect.

Police stated that, in accordance with established procedures, the suspect was cautioned under the Children’s Rules in the presence of his brother.

He was subsequently conveyed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he was medically examined and a report was obtained. He was then taken to the Maracas/St. Joseph Booking Centre, pending further enquiries.

Two other suspects, a 22-year-old man from Port of Spain and a 14-year-old boy from St. Joseph, were arrested on the day of the incident.

A third suspect, who was armed, was fatally shot by police during efforts to apprehend him, police had previously stated.
