EFFECTIVE Monday, March 16, 2026, drivers whose licences have expired would have up to three months to have it renewed instead of one month.

On Monday, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation advised that government approved the amendment to the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Regulations by Legal Notice No. 48 of 2026.

The ministry stated via media release, “This amendment will allow holders of valid driver’s licences to renew their licences up to three months prior to the expiration date, instead of the previous one-month period before expiry.

“This change will provide greater convenience to the public, reduce last-minute renewals, and improve overall service efficiency.”

The ministry thanked the public for its continued cooperation and stating it remains committed to improving service delivery across the transport sector.
