PROFESSIONAL standards across finance, accounting and human capital disciplines are to be strengthened in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT) and the Human Resource Management Association of Trinidad and Tobago (HRMATT) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) last week.
This cements a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening governance, leadership capability and professional standards across finance, accounting and human capital disciplines, a media release stated.
The signing took place at ICATT’S offices in Port of Spain.
Under the MOU, ICATT and HRMATT will jointly pursue cross-disciplinary professional development, including co-hosted seminars, workshops and webinars focused on ethics, leadership, governance, financial literacy and workforce talent development.
The partnership also prioritises advocacy for the recruitment of qualified, regulated professionals in senior finance and human resource roles; reinforcing professional membership as a benchmark of competence and accountability.
ICATT CEO Marsha Caballero said, “Strong governance and effective leadership are achieved when financial discipline and human capital strategy work in alignment. This partnership with HRMATT reflects a shared commitment to strengthening professional standards, building leadership capability, and reinforcing accountability across organisations in Trinidad and Tobago.”
HRMATT’s President Cavelle Joseph-St Omer said, “Today’s leaders must balance performance, people, and accountability. By working with ICATT, HRMATT is reinforcing modern leadership practices that elevate professional standards and strengthen organisational capability.”

The MOU is in immediate effect and will remain in force for an initial period of three years, with annual reviews to assess progress and impact.
“This strategic partnership reflects a shared commitment by ICATT and HRMATT to future-proof leadership, enhance professional standards and contribute meaningfully to sustainable organisational performance in Trinidad and Tobago,” the release stated.
