FOR a second year in a row, Hillview College of Tunapuna has the top performing student in the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE).
Teddy Mohammed Jr is the top performing student in Environmental Studies, Information and Communication Technology, Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
Also receiving the President’s Gold Medal will be Alicia Dipchan, of St Joseph’s Convent in San Fernando, as the top performing student in Business Studies, Creative and Performing Studies, General Studies, Language Studies, Modern Studies/Humanities and Technical Studies.
Last year, Hillview College copped both male and female President’s Gold Medal with Ryker Harricharan and Nishka Maharaj.
A release by the Ministry of Education on Thursday stated that 100 scholarships were awarded in each of the ten cognate groups, solely based on academic performance.
It stated that for academic year 2023/2024, the government has awarded 38 Open and sixty-two 62 Additional scholarships.
Of the 100 scholarships, 55% were awarded to female students, while forty-five 45 % were awarded to male students.
Ministers of EducationNyan Gadsby-Dolly and Lisa Morris-Julian, extend their sincere congratulations to all students on their exceptional achievements, which reflect their hard work, dedication, and resilience.
They commended the students, along with their families, teachers, and schools, for bringing honor and distinction to Trinidad and Tobago.
Students who wrote CAPE 2024 are advised that the opening of applications for 500 National Bursaries is imminent, and further information will soon be circulated via the Ministry of Education’s social media platforms, the ministry stated.
Presentation College in Chaguanas won the most scholarships with ten followed by Naparima College in San Fernando with nine and Presentation, San Fernando, with eight.
