ANNA-Lise Nanton has added a new title to her name – the 2024 Miss World representative for Trinidad and Tobago.

Nanton, who is from Santa Cruz,  represented Pax Vale stole the crown during the answers and question segment, putting Prishni Rampersadsingh (Miss Aranguez) at first runner up while Hannah Roberts (Miss Toco) was second place runner up.

Speaking to AZP News on Monday, Nanton said her inspiration for entering the competition was to make a positive impact in the  country as Miss World was a pageant of substance and purpose.

“I saw this as an opportunity to represent women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as well as Sport, so more women will be inspired to pursue careers in these fields and not be afraid to enter into these male dominated spaces.”

Nanton confessed that this was her first pageant but Miss World Caribbean 2024 Aché Abrahams and the other finalists in a recent show inspired her with their Beauty with a Purpose Projects.

She said, “I was hesitant going forward into the screening process, I showed up at the last hour and almost went back home. The pageant was something outside of my comfort zone.”

Yet she believed in herself and kept going. This was Nanton’s advice to young girls: “Never be afraid to take a chance on yourself. Don’t be afraid to shoot for the stars because you never know where you’ll land on the moon.”

Her win ended the reign of previous Miss World T&T Abrahams, who later won the title Miss World Caribbean at the 71st Miss World pageant in India.

However, due to being on tour with other Miss World personalities in Vietnam, Abrahams was unable to physically hand over her crown to Nanton.

At age 26, Nanton was employed as a Geotechnical Engineer with Earth Investigations Systems Ltd and was a strong advocate for women in STEM fields.

She is the holder of a First Class Honours degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Bath and a  former graduate of St Joseph’s Convent in Port of Spain.

Beyond her professional endeavours, she is a passionate supporter for holistic well-being, actively engaging in various sports such as football, touch-rugby, hiking, and running.

She also hoped to inspire and educate others on the transformative benefits of a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally.

Nanton believed true beauty transcends physical appearance; it lies in discovering one’s purpose and making a meaningful difference in the world while remaining authentic to oneself.
