The Ministry of Health (MoH), through its Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division, has issued a voluntary recall notice for eight lots of Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult.

The recall is prompted by microbial contamination identified by the manufacturer Haleon, the ministry stated in a release on Tuesday.

Robitussin, a widely used cough relief medication, has been flagged due to potential microbial contamination, raising concerns, particularly for immunocompromised individuals.

The Ministry stated that the use of these contaminated products by such individuals may lead to adverse effects, including fungemia or disseminated fungal infection.

While the likelihood of life-threatening infections in non-immunocompromised persons is considered low, the possibility of an infection requiring medical intervention cannot be completely ruled out.

Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult in both four and eight-ounce sizes is the specific product registered for sale in the country.

In light of this development, the Ministry urges individuals who possess the recalled products to immediately cease usage and return the items to the place of purchase whenever possible, prioritizing consumer safety.

For further information or clarification, concerned individuals are encouraged to contact the Office of the Director of the Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division. The office can be reached via email at cfdd@health.gov.tt or by phone at 217-4664 ext. 13101.
