AROUCA– A prisoner of the Maximum Security Prison (MSP) in Golden Grove, Arouca, has died after he complained to officers that he was feeling unwell.
Carlos Lawrence said on Tuesday morning that he was not feeling well and was taken to the Arima District Hospital.
He was pronounced dead at 12.15 p.m. at the institution.
Lawrence was detained and charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He was accompanied by two police officers to the hospital.
A registered nurse contacted officers at the Arima Police Station to tell them that Lawrence had died.
Police said foul play is not suspect. Investigators said there were no marks of violence on the body and Lawrence was suffered with an abdominal hernia.
