POLICE have arrested 12 people and seized guns bullets and drugs in separate incidents on Wednesday.
A release by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Thursday stated that officers of the Southern Division conducted another successful Operation Blue Line exercise on Wednesday, as 12 suspects were arrested and two firearms, ammunition, as well as a quantity of illegal narcotics were seized.
The release stated that during mobile patrols, officers stopped and searched a white Nissan AD Wagon along Mussarap Trace, Barrackpore. The officers discovered that one of the passengers had in his possession 253 grammes of cocaine in his front pocket. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Barrackpore Police Station. He was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. The drug had an estimated street value of $15,000.
Also, during a stop and search exercise in Barrackpore, the driver of a Hyundai Elantra, along with three passengers was arrested after officers found a Glock 17 with four rounds of ammunition in the vehicle.
Meanwhile, during a search warrant exercise, officers went to Wharton Street, San Fernando, where PC Jugmohan searched a suspect and found a revolver with 1 round of .38 ammunition and 18 grams of cocaine. The items were seized and the man was arrested.
Finally, during an anti-crime exercise conducted between 10 am and 6.30 pm yesterday, seven persons were arrested for a series of offences including Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Marijuana and Driving without a Permit and Certificate of Insurance.
Investigations are continuing.
