COCAINE valued at over $21 million was found washed ashore in Mayaro near to the bpTT compound on Isthmus Road in Galeota, Guayaguayare.
The drug was found by officers of the Eastern Division on Wednesday, a release by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated.
Reports are that officers of the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department (CID), acting on information received, proceeded to a location at Guayaguayare.
There, the officers observed 36 packets of a white substance resembling that of cocaine.
The drug has a total weight of 46 kilogrammes and an estimated street value of $21,373,440.
In a statement on Thursday, bpTT stated, “On Wednesday 23rd August 2023 at 10:40 am a suspicious package was observed on the beach south of bpTT’s facility.
“As a result the Mayaro Police were contacted who responded and took possession of the package and its contents.
Please direct all inquiries on this matter to the Police Service.”
