THE estimated cost of the recently concluded crime symposium held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port of Spain is $1.5 million.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley disclosed that figure on Wednesday in Parliament.

He said that it was not $15 million as projected by Opposition Member of Parliament for Naparima Rodney Charles.

In the Prime Minister’s Questions segment, Charles asked Dr Rowley to state the cost of the Regional Symposium: Violence as a Public Health Issue – The Crime Challenge that saw heads of Caricom coming together to discuss the crime situation in the Caribbean.

Dr Rowley called for an apology from Charles for allegedly giving the public wrong information.

An apology he did not get, but Charles asked if he was aware that $1.5 million could have fixed every pothole in the Princes Town, Naparima and Moruga/Tableland constituencies.

Dr Rowley responded, “And so will your salary.”
