FORMER deputy chief state solicitor Neil Byam dies after collapsing in court on Friday.
Reports stated that Byam was making submissions at the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain before the Court of Appeal comprising Justices Allan Mendonca, Prakash Moosai and Gillian Lucky when he complained about feeling unwell and collapsed.
Attorneys including senior counsel Douglas Mendes who was in court as well as other attorneys and judicial staff rushed to his aid.
Mendes held Byam and placed him on the floor while a judicial staff member performed CPR.
He was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
