AFTER 35 years in business, Jenny’s On the Boulevard is focusing on green with three outlets to charge electric vehicles (EVs) at its Cipriani Boulevard outlet in Port of Spain.
The facility is offered free of charge to its customers, said Chief Operations Officer Jonathan Sharma in an interview with AZP News last week.
He said he wanted to convert his fleet of delivery vehicles within a year and make all fully electric.
Sharma said EVs which have zero emissions help save the environment and the service cost with these vehicles was much lower than the ones with combustion engines.
Sharma said he already had many customers with hybrid vehicles.
He said, “People bought these vehicles even before there were concessions on them and this is the way the world is heading.”
Sharma said Cipriani Boulevard was a main thoroughfare in and out of Port of Spain so the EV charging stations were in an ideal location.
The charging stations are located in three spots nine feet each which were converted where four vehicles could have parked.
He said, “This is to give drivers enough room to do their charging.”
Sharma said he put in the infrastructure himself and the stations were done by LAFAST Motors selling fully electric Mini Cooper.
