POPULAR soca parang artiste Kenny J dies from Covid-19.
He was 69.
Kenny J whose real name was Kenwrick Joseph was fully vaccinated and even did an advertisement for the Ministry of Health encouraging people to take the Covid-19 vaccine.
He passed away at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Augustus Long Hospital on Sunday morning.
Born on July 15, 1952, in San Fernando, Kenny J was a retired policeman and was known for soca parang hits – Paintbrush, Alexander and Hush Your Mouth.
He sang calypso first and was even second in the National Calypso Monarch finals in 1990 with Addicted to Sweet Soca and Leave She Alone.
He won the T&T Police Monarch competition in 1987.
