POLICE issue $22,000 in fixed penalty notices for breach of the Covid-19 public health regulations in Tobago over the weekend.
A release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Sunday confirmed the tickets were issued to 13 people during an exercise in Crown Point.
Reports stated, “Officers of the Tobago Division Covid-19 Enforcement/Safe Zone Unit carried out an exercise in the Crown Point, Shirvan Road and Scarborough districts, where 13 most of whom were found without masks in public were ticketed.”
In addition, officers visited 11 establishments from 1 pm to 4 pm and 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm, which included restaurants and bars. Upon checks, all staff and patrons at these were found to be compliant with the safe zone requirements.
The exercises were headed by acting Cpl Smith of the Covid-19 Enforcement/Safe Zone Unit.
