Police Seize Sex Tablets, Chinese Sausage in Sando

CHINESE sausage, tins of pork, erection capsules and wrapping paper were amongst several items seized by police officers during supermarket raids in San Fernando on Tuesday.

Police reported that officers of the Southern Division, Multi- Agency Task Force joined with several state agencies and seized a quantity of pharmaceuticals, electrical and food items during the raids.

Based on information, inspections were conducted at a supermarket at the Southland Mall, Cross Crossing and the items were seized for failing the minimum standards for electrical items.

They included:

  • 18 Ming GE Hair Dryers;
  • Two Surker Hair Dryers;
  • 102 Saba Stainless Steel Cook pots ;
  • Six Anti-Surge outlets;
  • Nine Soldering Irons;
  • 32 six-outlets power surge protectors; and
  • One Glue Gun.

Inspectors from the Food and Drugs Division also seized the following items for failing to have the required approval:

  • Four packets of Black Ants pills;
  • Eight packets of Chinese sausages; and
  • 34 tins of pork.

At another supermarket at Market Street, Marabella police seized:

  • 14 tins of Black Ants tablets,
  • One tin Black Ants King;
  • Four tins of Africa Black Ants;
  • One pack of CPM tablets;
  • Four tubes of Candid B cream;
  • 12 packets of NyQuil;
  • 11 Santi-scalper erection capsules;
  • 85 500mg methanol;
  • Three boxes of Day Quil; and
  • One box Overlord capsules.

The officers also observed a gambling machine adapted for Play Whe, with Play Whe charts and Play Whe slips with $28,049 at the premises.

The Financial Investigations Branch (FIB) is conducting inquires as it relates to illegal gambling and money laundering.

Additionally, the following items were seized under the Tobacco Control Act 30:04:

  • 4,420 Ultima cigarettes;
  • 474 Ganesh Mangalore Beedies;
  • Four cases of Magnum wine; and
  • 50 boxes of wrapping paper package as note pad.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Cooper and Supt Smith in collaboration with Snr Supt Lucia Winchester, ASP Haynes, in conjunction with the Customs and Excise Division, Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards, the Tobacco Control Unit, the Ministry of Health, Occupational Health and Safety, and the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service.
