Cummings Calls on Youths to Get Vaccinated

MINISTER of Youth Development and National Service Foster Cummings all eligible youths to take the Covid- 19 vaccine that is now available to them.

The minister made the plea on Tuesday following the Ministry of Health’s announcement of the presence of the Delta variant and the continued report of the virus related deaths.

In a press release, he reminded young people that while some persons may exhibit no symptoms, they can still spread the disease to others.

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education is working together to vaccinate children 12-18 years of age with the Pfizer vaccine.

Cummings advises young adults, 18 years and over, to access the AstraZeneca and Sinopharm vaccines at approved vaccination sites across the country.


Cummings said, “Prevention is the most important action you can take to protect yourself and your family from getting Covid-19.”

Youths were also encouraged to keep abreast via reputable sources of information and observe the following protocols set by the Ministry of Health.


These include the wearing of a mask over the nose and mouth in public, staying six feet apart from others, staying home if ill, washing hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser, coughing into a tissue or into the crook of the elbow and sanitising hard surfaces as often as possible.

Cummings, who is also the Member of Parliament for La Horquetta/Talparo, encouraged constituents to participate in a community vaccination drive in collaboration with the North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA), on Saturday and Sunday 22 at the Phase 7 basketball court, La Horquetta, from 8am-3pm daily.
