Copa: Brazil Held, Peru Win

IN another round of Copa America, Brazil fielding an under strength side were held to a 1-1 draw and Peru secured another victory over Venezuela.

The games in this tournament have lacked excitement. It is a poor Copa America by past standards and our secondary school football has produced games of greater skill and excitement.

In a tame affair, Brazil were held to a draw. Brazil went ahead in the 37th minute by a goal from E Militao and Ecuador responded in the 53rd with a goal by A Mena. There were only 14 shots at goal with Ecuador having eight of them with three on target.

Both teams have qualified for the next round, along with Peru and Columbia.

Peru 1 vs Venezuela 0

In a more exciting game where Venezuela had to win to qualify, they fell short. Peru were pressing for a larger margin of victory but had to settle for a 1 -0 win. There were seven shots on target with Peru having four of them, including A Carillio 48th minute winner.
